In the second academic year of my degree, I applied to a call published by the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government to be part of a team of people with management skills and sufficient computer and organizational knowledge to lead the PREMIA plan, the structure of LAN network and Intranet in the schools of the Basque public network in Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Araba.

I turned out to be one of the 3 selected ones and from then I have focused my professional profile, working in the educational ICT field for the Basque Government through this project and others such as Garatu, Hobetuz, etc. as well as collaborating with the Berritzegunes and public schools face to face, simultaneously with my studies.

  • Adviser and organic systems analyst for the Basque Government of the inter-school network connectivity plan of the PREMIA public network.
  • Responsible for training in the Department of Education of the Basque Government for system administrators of Primary and Secondary schools in Bizkaia
  • Junior consultant for educational schools and SMEs in the areas of connectivity (LAN, WAN, SYNC), electronic commerce, web development and community management.
  • Consultant, analyst and facilitator for the development of ICT projects for educational schools.
  • Project manager, developer and systems analyst for the communication platforms for nurseries and kinder garden shools “GUARDERIAVIRTUAL.com” and for the management, communication and content platform for school secretaries “VIRTUAL OFFICE”.
  • Consultant, analyst and implanter of server-based computer systems for SMEs.

El Salvador School, Marist Brothers of Bilbao and “Iberian Marist Province” (Bizkaia, Navarra, Aragon, Madrid and Extremadura). 8 schools in 5 different autonomous communities and 4 different profiles:

  • schools (from kinder garden to high school or VET, average 1250 students per campus)
  • an NGO (SED)
  • a technical engineering (AZTERLAN) for analysis of parts and components
  • communities of the Marist brotherhood

This institution has a team of religious and lay people who direct all its works in the northern part of Spain, of which I was part as co-head of technology (about 12,000 users in total).

  • Consultant for the Management Team, the secretariat and administration staff and the pedagogical, quality and technological orientation departments in the fields of INNOVATION, MANAGEMENT, COMMUNICATION AND CONTENTS.
  • Analyst, designer, implanter, maintainer and technical support of LAN and WAN network installations. Structured cabling, carrier relations, backup systems, protection, load balancing and fault tolerance, etc.
  • Systems administrator. Implementer and manager of the communication servers and content repositories for teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students. Designer and implanter of the Intranet / Extranet systems for the center’s workforce and for the students.
  • Maintainer and technical support of workstations in offices, teaching rooms and common classrooms (computer rooms and the like).
  • Co-designer and implanter of the content storage system for process management according to the EFQM Quality model. Designer, implanter, publisher and content manager of the center’s website.

  • Representative of the Bilbao school in technological meetings with other schools under the ownership of the Marist Brothers.

This institution has a team of lay people that directs all its works, of which I was part as technological manager for the whole Institution (about 20,000 users in total)

  • IT Director and consultant in the OWNERSHIP TEAM (formerly the Center Management Team) of the Institution, as well as for the Management Teams, the secretariat and administration staff and the pedagogical, quality and technological orientation departments in all the schools and headquarters and houses of the Congregation in Spain and its Foundation in the fields of INNOVATION, MANAGEMENT, COMMUNICATION AND CONTENT.   • Responsible for the ICT coordination of schools, supervising the work, functions and responsibilities of the ICT coordinators of each center.
  • Analyst, designer, implanter, maintainer and technical support of LAN and WAN network installations. Structured cabling, carrier relations, backup systems, protection, load balancing and fault tolerance, etc.
  • Implementer and person in charge of the management servers, communications and content repositories for teaching staff, non-teaching staff, religious, students and families
  • Designer and implementer of Intranet / Extranet systems for the centre’s workforce, religious, students and families.
  • Maintainer and technical support of the jobs in offices, teaching classrooms and common classrooms (computer rooms and similar) at the Bilbao school (face-to-face) and in the houses of the Congregation (remote).
  • Systems administrator and head of the ICT teams of each school of the Congregation.
  • Supervisor of its maintenance and operation management.
  • Designer and implanter of the content storage system for process management according to the EFQM Quality model.
  • Designer, developer, implanter, publisher and content manager of all the web pages of the schools, the Congregation and the Foundation of this brotherhood.

The performance of my responsibilities involves coordinating with the directive and management teams of each entity and leading a team of 6 technicians and 60 ICT coordinators in the La Salle schools of the autonomous communities of the Basque Country, La Rioja and Aragón:

  • 15 schools, 4 are also VET centers
  • 5 companies
  • 1,100 workers (between teaching and non-teaching staff)
  • 11,000 students.

I am one of the 7 members of the national team of ICT directors whose responsibility reaches all colleges, universities and companies throughout the country.

I am the ICT manager of the La Salle area in Spain internally called “Sector 2” and my job consists of analyzing, designing, planning, proposing and implementing the IT plans necessary for the operation, sustainability and innovation in everything related to computing and technology:

  • Systems and development: infrastructures, servers, services, devices, deployments, maintenance. Relationship between informatics and pedagogy: technological curriculum, teaching-learning processes or
  • Contracts and strategic and operational relationships with providers of computer products and Saas services, as well as with public, governmental and private institutions.
  • All aspects regarding strategic processes of administrative management, internal procedures and digital communication.
  • Inter-company coordination of the Institution, inter-teams of schools, inter-teams of national management.
  • Design of ICT training plans for teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Management of technology purchases, both in 1 × 1 or BYOD models and in the schools’ own computer park.
  • Elaboration of a portfolio of products and services for La Salle schools, through the extranet platform (also of its own creation) SalleGUNE.
